TOYS FROM HOME

Toys from home brought for play or for “sharing” time were intended to help a child transition from home to a new school experience and provide a reason to speak in front of a group.

Increasingly, toys from home have become something to tease people with, and, as we all know, these kids now are wonderful communicators and do not need a visual aide.

Please continue to let your child bring videos and especially books,. Please continue to bring a stuffed object to snuggle with at nap. Please continue to bring items for your child to show his friends while you are signing in, and then bring them to the car with you. Feel free to discuss anything special that you think we might enjoy, and we will come to a mutually satisfying arrangement for it. For example, Jackie and Nicholas arranged to leave a train set at school for a week. Trevor H. sometimes brings in a dog for us to pet.

It’s a more valuable experience to “share” an experience with the group than to hold up a toy.
