Got CPR

As staff members were attending our CPR brush-up courses this year, our instructor, Cynthia Borres, had some cautionary tales to tell.

She has had upset parents call her in the middle of the night begging to have her teach them CPR.  They had brought their baby in to the hospital for respiratory problems, and when it came time to release the child from the hospital, the child was not released because the parents did not know CPR!  The hospitals know that she is willing to teach at odd hours at a moment's notice, but she wonders how much they actually retain in such rushed conditions.

Cynthia recommends every parent learn CPR before such a scenario occurs.  CPR, which is Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, is breathing and making blood pump for a person whose heart and breathing has stopped.  If CPR is started right away, the person may live until medical personnel can take over (calling 911, going to the hospital).
